Compact business desktop for office workloads

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF Desktop Computer is a small-form-factor PC built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.10 GHz turbo and 65 W TDP. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory and a dual-drive configuration that pairs a 256 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system with a 1 TB hard drive for bulk storage. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, and a USB keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Steady performance under continuous load

The six-core CPU maintains its rated clocks during extended office tasks such as document editing, web browsing and video conferencing without thermal throttling in the SFF chassis. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles standard display output and light graphical workloads without a discrete card. The 16 GB DDR4 memory ceiling of 32 GB provides headroom for multitasking, while the SSD keeps boot and application launches responsive over long sessions.

Replaces older tower PCs for space-constrained desks

This unit upgrades from larger legacy desktops that lack an M.2 slot or modern connectivity, delivering a smaller footprint with dual-drive storage and USB Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. It is not suited for buyers who need discrete graphics performance, additional internal drive bays beyond the M.2 and 3.5-inch bay, or memory expansion past 32 GB DDR4. The DVD-ROM drive covers legacy media needs, but the chassis does not support full-height add-in cards.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 65 W i5-8500 get when the M720s runs all day?

The 65 W processor is cooled by the small-form-factor chassis; under sustained load the fan spins up but stays at office-friendly levels and the case remains warm rather than hot.

Which display cables must I already own to connect a monitor to the Intel UHD Graphics 630?

The integrated graphics outputs video through the motherboard's native ports — typically DisplayPort and VGA — so have the matching cable ready for your screen.

Can the included USB keyboard and mouse work on a legacy PS/2-only KVM switch I still use?

No, both peripherals are USB wired devices; a PS/2 KVM would need active USB-to-PS/2 adapters to function.
