Compact SFF desktop for office work

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a Small Form Factor business PC built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor with a 3.00 GHz base clock and 4.10 GHz maximum turbo. It ships new with Windows 11 Pro, 16GB DDR4 memory and a wireless keyboard and mouse set, targeting professionals who need a space-saving system for daily productivity tasks.

16GB RAM and 512GB NVMe headroom

The 16GB DDR4 configuration handles typical multitasking across office suites, browser tabs and line-of-business applications without paging. The 512GB NVMe SSD delivers fast boot and load times while storing a standard working set of documents and software. Memory-intensive workloads such as large database work or virtualisation clusters will exceed the installed capacity and the SFF chassis limits further expansion.

SFF chassis with wireless peripherals

The compact black chassis uses air cooling and fits on or under a desk where full towers cannot. A single RJ45 Fast Ethernet port provides wired connectivity alongside built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless networks and peripherals. The included wireless keyboard and mouse reduce cable clutter, while the small form factor restricts internal upgrade space for add-in cards or additional drives.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.00 GHz i5-8500 work with my existing DDR4 memory modules if I want to expand beyond 16GB?

The system uses DDR4 memory; any added modules must be DDR4 to be compatible with the motherboard.

How can I verify the 512GB NVMe SSD is recognised and performing at speed after first boot?

Open Windows Disk Management to confirm the 512GB NVMe drive appears with its full capacity and run a quick benchmark to check read speeds.

Does the box contain a display cable for my monitor or only the wireless keyboard and mouse?

The package includes the M720s SFF, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and a power cord; a monitor and any video cable are not included.
