Compact business desktop with 6-core i7

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF desktop PC is built for office environments that need reliable daily performance. It pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700 processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout of 256 GB M.2 SSD plus 1 TB hard drive. Windows 11 Pro, a DVD-ROM drive, USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Sustained multi-threaded workloads on 65 W TDP

The i7-8700 runs at 3.20 GHz base and can reach 4.60 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost across its 6 cores and 12 threads while staying within a 65 W envelope. Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles standard business visuals and multi-monitor output without a discrete card. The SFF chassis uses internal airflow designed for continuous operation during long work sessions.

Check motherboard memory slots

The system ships with 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM installed and supports up to 32 GB total, so verify how many DIMM 240-pin slots remain free for upgrades. Confirm the case has space for the existing 2.5-inch M.2 SSD and 3.5-inch 1 TB hard drive if you plan to add more storage. Ensure your monitor provides the video input required by the integrated graphics outputs.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 65 W i7-8700 produce under sustained load?

The Intel Core i7-8700 has a 65 W TDP, so its sustained heat output matches that rating; the SFF chassis uses a single system fan to manage it.

Does the included USB Wi-Fi dongle need a free USB port to work?

Yes, the wireless card is a USB dongle and requires one available USB port for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Will my existing DDR4 UDIMM modules work alongside the installed 8 GB stick?

The system uses DDR4 UDIMM memory and supports up to 32 GB total, so compatible DDR4 UDIMM modules can be added to the second slot.
