Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen2 laptop

This 15.6 inch laptop ships with Windows 11 Home and an 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor. It is built for professionals who need a reliable mainstream machine for office applications and video calls. The 16GB DDR4 memory and 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast boot times. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card or a larger storage capacity should look elsewhere.

Thermals noise and power draw

The system draws power from a 65 Watt AC adapter and a 45Wh three cell battery. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics keep heat output modest during typical productivity workloads. Fan noise stays low when handling documents, email and web browsing. Sustained heavy workloads will raise temperatures and fan speed beyond quiet office levels.

Build quality and connectivity

The black chassis measures 18.9mm thin and weighs 1.7 kg for easy transport. A 720p webcam, dual 2W speakers and a 220 nit anti-glare TN display support daily meetings. Ports include Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A always on, USB 2.0 Type A, HDMI 1.4, RJ45 and a headphone mic combo. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless duties.

Questions about this item

How do I install extra RAM in the ThinkPad E15 Gen2 and what step do people miss?

Open the base cover, insert the DDR4 3200 MHz SoDIMM into the free slot, then reseat the battery connector before closing — skipping the battery reconnect stops the new memory from being recognised.

Which parts will need replacement first during the laptop's life?

The 45 Wh 3-cell battery and the 256 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD are the only user-replaceable components; the 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory is soldered and cannot be swapped.

What limit appears first when the Core i7-1165G7 runs at full load for a long period?

The 65 W AC adapter and 45 Wh battery cap total system power, so the 4.70 GHz turbo ceiling cannot be held and clocks drop to stay within the cooling and power envelope.
