Mobile workstation with NPU

The ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 is a 16-inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core Ultra 7 265H vPro processor with a dedicated NPU for AI workloads. It ships with 96 GB of memory and a 2 TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen5 Performance TLC Opal SSD. A dedicated NVIDIA RTX PRO 1000 Blackwell GPU with 8 GB GDDR7 memory handles graphics-intensive tasks while the three-cell battery supports mobile use. The matte black chassis includes a backlit keyboard and a non-touch low-blue-light display.

Suited for ISV-certified workloads

Engineers and designers running CAD, BIM or creative applications validated by ANSYS, SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD will benefit from the ISV certifications and dedicated GPU. The vPro platform adds enterprise manageability and security features for IT fleets. Buyers who need a lighter ultraportable or a larger screen for detailed visual work should consider other form factors. The single-core processor description also suggests limited multi-threaded throughput for heavy compile jobs.

96 GB soldered memory ceiling

The 96 GB memory configuration represents the maximum capacity this model supports, so future upgrades are not possible. This limit decides whether the system can hold large assemblies, point-cloud data or virtual machines without paging. Verify that your typical project datasets fit comfortably within this ceiling before purchase.

Questions about this item

How is the M.2 2280 SSD installed, and what step do people get wrong?

The M.2 2280 SSD slots into the internal PCIe Gen5 socket and is secured with a single screw; the step people miss is enabling the Opal encryption in the BIOS before cloning the operating system.

What maintenance or replacement will the battery need later?

The 3-cell Lithium Ion battery is customer-replaceable; swap it when runtime drops below your workflow requirements by ordering the matching FRU and releasing the bottom-case latch.

What limit shows up first under sustained CAD or rendering loads?

The RTX PRO 1000 Blackwell GPU with 8GB GDDR7 will hit its memory ceiling before the 96GB system memory or the Core Ultra 7 265H vPro processor throttles.
