Mobile workstation for ISV workflows

The ThinkPad P17 20SQS27T00 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built on the Intel vPro platform with an Intel Xeon W-10855M processor. It targets engineers, designers and creators who need certified stability in applications such as AutoCAD, CATIA and 3ds Max. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro and 64 GB of DDR4 2933 memory in a four-module configuration.

Sustained performance with Ultra-Performance Mode

An Ultra-Performance Mode setting optimises airflow and thermal saturation so the six-core 2.80 GHz Xeon and NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 8 GB GPU can maintain higher clocks during long render or simulation sessions. The 500-nit UHD IPS panel with Dolby Vision and HDR 400 stays colour-accurate without throttling the chassis. A 1 TB PCIe SSD supplies the throughput needed for large project files.

Replaces older mobile workstations lacking vPro

Buyers moving from machines without hardware-level security management or certified Quadro drivers gain ISV certification and vPro remote manageability in one step. The 64 GB DDR4 ceiling covers current multi-application workloads without immediate upgrades. It is not for buyers who need more than 64 GB memory, multiple GPU configurations or a lighter chassis for frequent travel.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Xeon W-10855M and RTX 4000 get during sustained all-day workloads?

The Ultra-Performance Mode optimizes airflow and thermal saturation for maximum sustained performance from the Xeon W-10855M and NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000.

What memory modules must I already have to expand the 64 GB DDR4 2933 configuration?

The system uses four 16 GB DDR4 2933 MHz modules; any upgrade requires matching DDR4 2933 SO-DIMMs.

Will my existing 1080p external monitors work with the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 outputs?

Yes, the Quadro RTX 4000 drives external displays at up to 3840 x 2160, so 1080p monitors connect and run without issue.
