Mobile workstation with Xeon W-10855M

The Lenovo ThinkPad P17 20SQS27Y00 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Xeon W-10855M processor with vPro technology. It targets engineers, designers and creators who need ISV-certified stability for professional 3D and CAD applications. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro and 32 GB of DDR4 2933 memory in a black chassis.

17.3-inch UHD IPS display at 500 nits

The anti-glare IPS panel delivers a 3840 x 2160 resolution with Dolby Vision and HDR 400 support at 500 nits brightness. This combination provides accurate colour reproduction and high contrast for visual design work. The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 graphics card with 8 GB video memory and Max-Q design drives the display for hardware-accelerated workflows.

1 TB PCIe SSD and 32 GB DDR4 memory

The 1 TB PCIe SSD offers fast storage access for large project files and operating system responsiveness. The 32 GB DDR4 2933 configuration (2 x 16 GB) handles complex assemblies and multi-application workloads comfortably. Users requiring more than 1 TB of local storage or memory beyond 32 GB will need to verify upgrade options separately.

Questions about this item

Will the 32 GB DDR4 2933 memory need to be replaced for heavier workloads?

The system ships with two 16 GB DDR4 2933 modules filling both slots, so any increase means swapping both for higher-capacity DDR4 2933 sticks.

Which thermal limit appears first when the Xeon W-10855M and Quadro RTX 4000 run at full load?

The Ultra-Performance Mode optimises airflow and thermal saturation, letting the 6-core 2.80 GHz Xeon and 8 GB RTX 4000 sustain boost clocks before the chassis hits its thermal ceiling.

How loud and hot does the 17.3" UHD 500-nit panel get during all-day rendering?

The 3840 x 2160 IPS display draws constant backlight power at 500 nits, while the Max-Q RTX 4000 and Xeon share a vapour-chamber cooler that keeps surface temperatures and fan noise at workstation-class levels.
