Mobile workstation for professionals

The ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 pairs an 11th Gen Intel octa-core i7-11800H with 32GB of DDR4 3200 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD. NVIDIA RTX A2000 graphics with 4GB GDDR6 drive the 17.3 inch UHD IPS panel at 3840 x 2160. It targets engineers, designers and analysts who need certified application stability on Windows 11 Pro.

Not user-upgradable

Memory slots are fully populated at 32GB so no further RAM can be added without removing existing modules. The 1TB M.2 drive can be swapped but requires disassembly and may void the manufacturer three-year warranty if not performed by an authorised technician. Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 ports handle external displays without opening the chassis.

32GB memory and 1TB storage headroom

The 32GB DDR4 configuration handles large assemblies, multi-layer timelines and virtual machines comfortably. The 1TB SSD holds active project libraries and OS images with room for growth. RTX A2000 4GB VRAM becomes the limiting factor for very large GPU datasets or multi-4K viewport workloads. Battery life reaches 8.3 hours on the 94Whr pack under light loads.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 17.3" 4K IPS panel is running at 3840 x 2160 after setup?

Open Windows Display Settings and verify the resolution shows 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz; the Intel graphics control panel will also report the panel's native 500-nit brightness capability.

What accessories are included with the P17 Gen 2 and what must I purchase separately?

The laptop ships with the 170 W power adapter and power cord; no external dock, optical drive or additional cables are included, so buy any Thunderbolt 4 dock or USB-C hub separately if you need extra ports.

Which configuration should I choose between the listed processor, memory and storage options?

This unit is a single fixed configuration: 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800H, 32 GB DDR4 3200 (soldered, no free slots) and 1 TB PCIe SSD, so there are no alternate versions to select.
