17.3" Mobile Workstation

The Lenovo ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built around an 11th Generation Intel 8-core i7-11800H processor. It ships with 64GB of DDR4 3200 memory and a 2TB PCIe SSD. The NVIDIA RTX A2000 GPU provides 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM for professional graphics workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suited for ISV-certified apps.

This configuration targets engineers, designers and developers who run ISV-certified applications and need 64GB of memory plus a professional GPU in a 17.3 inch chassis. The 7.86 lb weight and 1.28 inch profile make it impractical for daily commuting or ultra-portable use. Buyers who need a thinner device or longer unplugged runtime should consider other form factors.

64GB soldered memory and 2TB storage headroom

The 64GB DDR4 3200 configuration uses all available slots, so no further memory expansion is possible. The 2TB PCIe SSD offers substantial space for large datasets, project files and multiple virtual machines. The 94Whr battery delivers up to 8.3 hours of use, while the 170W power supply supports rapid charging for sustained workloads.

Questions about this item

What DDR4 memory speed must any extra modules match for the i7-11800H platform?

The installed memory runs at DDR4 3200, so any additional modules should be rated for that speed to keep the system stable.

Can the two Thunderbolt 4 ports drive older DisplayPort monitors through an adapter?

Yes, each Thunderbolt 4 port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, so a passive USB-C to DisplayPort cable or adapter will run legacy monitors at up to 4K 60 Hz.

How can I confirm the RTX A2000 is using its 4 GB GDDR6 rather than shared system memory?

Open Windows Task Manager, select the GPU tab, and verify that Dedicated GPU Memory shows 4 GB and the GPU name reads NVIDIA RTX A2000.
