17.3" UHD display for colour-critical work

This Lenovo ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 laptop ships new with a 17.3" UHD IPS panel at 3840 x 2160 resolution, 500 nits brightness, Dolby Vision and HDR 400. It targets engineers, designers and analysts who need factory-calibrated colour accuracy on a large mobile screen.

Mobile workstation buyers needing ISV-certified

The NVIDIA RTX A3000 6 GB dedicated GPU and Intel Core i9-11950H 8-core processor suit CAD, simulation and video editing workflows validated by independent software vendors. Buyers who want more storage than the single 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD or more memory than the 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz (2 x 16 GB) soldered configuration should look at something else.

Check Thunderbolt 4 dock and power requirements

Verify that your existing docks, monitors and peripherals work with the two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports for video, data and charging. Confirm that your IT environment supports Windows 10 Pro and the vPro management features included with this processor.

Questions about this item

Does this ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 need any external power brick or dock to run the i9-11950H and RTX A3000 6GB at full performance?

No, the laptop includes its own power supply; the i9-11950H and RTX A3000 6GB operate at full performance without an additional dock or brick.

Will my existing DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM modules work alongside the 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) already installed?

Yes, the system uses DDR4 3200 memory; compatible SO-DIMMs can be added to the open slots for up to 128 GB total.

How can I verify the 17.3" UHD panel is delivering 500 nits and HDR 400 as specified?

Open Windows Display settings, enable HDR, then run the HDR calibration tool; a peak brightness reading near 500 nits confirms the panel is performing to spec.
