Mobile workstation for ISV-certified apps

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation running Windows 8.1 Pro. It targets professionals who need certified stability across more than 100 independent software vendor applications. The system combines an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics for 3D rendering and heavy multitasking.

64GB DDR4 memory for large datasets

The single specification that decides fit is the 64GB DDR4 memory capacity. This amount supports large dataset manipulation, virtual machines and complex assemblies without paging to the 1TB solid-state drive. Buyers who need more than 64GB of system memory cannot expand this unit further.

Fingerprint reader and UltraNav input

A fingerprint reader provides hardware-based Windows Hello authentication for secure log-in. The ThinkPad UltraNav combines a TrackPoint pointing stick with a multi-touch touchpad for precise cursor control without leaving the home row. A 720p HD webcam and Bluetooth 4.1 complete the bundled input and communication features.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.5 GHz turbo speed of the i7-6700HQ affect real-world rendering and compilation?

The quad-core processor reaches 3.5 GHz on turbo, shortening 3D render times and speeding multi-threaded code builds while the ISV certification keeps drivers stable across over 100 professional applications.

What does the Quadro M1000M graphics card limit in external display setups?

The M1000M drives the internal 1920x1080 IPS panel and supports additional monitors through the available video outputs, letting you span workflows across multiple screens without discrete GPU switching.

Will the 15.6 inch chassis accept a second internal drive alongside the 1TB SSD?

The 1TB solid-state drive occupies the primary slot; the service manual shows a second 2.5 inch bay and an M.2 socket, so extra storage can be added without removing the original drive.
