Mobile Workstation with 64GB DDR4

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need ISV-certified stability. It runs an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor up to 3.5GHz with 64GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD. NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics drive the 1920x1080 IPS anti-glare display. Windows 7 Professional comes pre-installed.

ISV Certification and Security Features

Over 100 independent software vendor certifications mean core engineering and design applications are validated on this platform. A fingerprint reader adds biometric login, while the 720p webcam supports video conferencing. Bluetooth 4.1 handles peripheral connections without cables. The spill-resistant keyboard includes the TrackPoint pointing device for precise navigation.

Suited for Certified App Workflows.

This system suits engineers and analysts who rely on legacy Windows 7 environments and ISV-approved drivers for 3D modelling or simulation tasks. Buyers who require a supported operating system for security compliance or modern software compatibility should look elsewhere. The 512GB SSD and four USB ports cover typical project storage and peripheral needs.

Questions about this item

Can the 64GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The 64GB DDR4 memory fills the available slots, so no further RAM upgrades are possible.

What limits sustained performance first, the CPU turbo ceiling or the Quadro M1000M thermal envelope?

The Intel Core i7-6700HQ tops out at 3.5GHz, and the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M 2GB GPU shares the cooling system, so GPU thermals typically throttle first during long 3D workloads.

How loud do the fans get and how hot does the chassis run when the i7-6700HQ and Quadro M1000M are loaded all day?

Under continuous load the dual fans spin up to an audible but not intrusive level, and the bottom case reaches warm temperatures typical for a 15.6" mobile workstation.
