Mobile workstation with Quadro graphics

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7 6th generation quad-core processor. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory, a 1TB SSD and an NVIDIA Quadro M1000M GPU. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

New SSD and core peripherals included

A fresh solid-state drive is fitted as standard, providing the 1TB capacity quoted. The box contains the laptop, its battery and the AC adaptor. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while a webcam and integrated speakers handle conferencing.

Suits ISV workloads on the move.

Professionals running certified ISV applications on a portable platform will find the Quadro driver stack and workstation chassis appropriate. Buyers who need more than 8GB of memory or a touchscreen display should look at other configurations.

Questions about this item

Will the 1TB SSD need replacement during the laptop's lifespan?

The 1TB SSD is a new component installed in this unit. Solid-state drives have no moving parts and typically last for years under normal workloads, though heavy write cycles can eventually wear the cells.

What performance limit appears first when the Quadro M1000M runs sustained loads?

The 8GB DDR4 memory and Quadro M1000M GPU will reach capacity before the Core i7 6th Gen processor during extended rendering or simulation tasks, causing the system to rely on the 1TB SSD for swap space.

How loud and hot does the 15.6" workstation get when running all day?

The ThinkPad P50 chassis uses dual-fan cooling for the Core i7 6th Gen and Quadro M1000M; under continuous load the fans spin up audibly and the keyboard deck warms noticeably, especially above the GPU zone.
