Mobile workstation for engineers

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for engineers and designers who need ISV-certified stability. It runs Windows 8.1 Pro on an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with four cores and a 3.50 GHz turbo frequency. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a four terabyte solid state drive provide capacity for large assemblies and datasets. The NVIDIA Quadro M1000M GPU drives a 1920 x 1080 IPS display with anti-glare coating.

Quadro M1000M graphics certification

The single specification that decides suitability is the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics processor with ISV certification across more than one hundred professional applications. This GPU ensures validated drivers for CAD, CAE and 3D modelling packages where consumer cards can introduce visual artefacts or calculation errors. Buyers who need a second GPU for GPU-accelerated rendering farms or who require certified drivers for newer application releases beyond the supported stack should look elsewhere.

Docking and security integration

The chassis includes a fingerprint reader and a hardware secure chip for biometric login and platform integrity. AC Wi-Fi handles wireless connectivity while the full-sized spill-resistant keyboard with TrackPoint supports long typing sessions. A 720p webcam enables video conferencing without peripherals. The four terabyte drive eliminates the need for external project storage, and the 16 GB DDR4 configuration leaves no free memory slots for future expansion.
