Mobile workstation for ISV workflows

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 pairs an Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor with NVIDIA Quadro M620M graphics and 8GB DDR4 RAM. It ships with Windows 7 Professional and targets professionals who rely on ISV-certified stability across more than 100 applications. A 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel provides a 1920 x 1080 workspace for colour-sensitive tasks.

Hybrid drive and security extras

A 1TB hybrid drive combines traditional capacity with 8GB of NAND flash to accelerate boot and application launch without a full solid-state array. The built-in fingerprint reader and secure chip add hardware-based authentication that supports enterprise login policies. AC Wi-Fi handles wireless connectivity for remote collaboration sessions.

Headroom for modelling and multitasking

Four cores at up to 3.80 GHz and 2GB of dedicated video memory handle 3D modelling, CAD assemblies and multi-application workflows within the 8GB system memory limit. The 17.3-inch display shows full HD detail without scaling compromises. Buyers who need larger datasets in memory or faster storage throughput will find the fixed 8GB RAM and hybrid drive restrictive.

Questions about this item

How do I replace the 8 GB DDR4 memory module when I need more capacity?

The single 8 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM at 2400 MHz is user-accessible; remove the bottom cover, release the retention clips, swap in a higher-capacity DDR4 module and reseat the cover.

What stops the Core i7-7700HQ from holding its 3.8 GHz turbo during long renders?

The processor reduces clocks when its thermal threshold is reached, so extended 100 % loads on the Quadro M620M and CPU together will drop frequencies below the maximum turbo.

How loud do the fans get when the Quadro M620M and i7-7700HQ run flat-out all day?

Under continuous full load the dual-fan cooling spins up to an audible but office-tolerable level; the chassis stays warm near the rear vents while the keyboard deck remains comfortable.
