Mobile Workstation for Professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified application performance on the move. It runs an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with four cores and a 3.8 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz and a 1 TB SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro M620M GPU with 2 GB of video memory drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display. Windows 7 Professional comes pre-installed.

Security and Connectivity Included

A fingerprint reader and a secure chip provide hardware-based authentication and data protection out of the box. Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (2x2) delivers wireless connectivity without extra accessories. The operating system and drivers are configured for the ISV-certified application stack covering over 100 titles. No additional security dongles or wireless cards are required to start working.

Spill-Resistant Keyboard and Port Selection

The full-sized keyboard is spill-resistant and includes the TrackPoint pointing device for precise navigation without a mouse. An expansive selection of ports supports multiple peripherals and external displays simultaneously. The anti-glare IPS panel reduces reflections in bright environments. The black chassis houses these features in a form factor designed for daily transport and desk docking.

Questions about this item

How often should the thermal paste on the i7-7700HQ and Quadro M620M be replaced?

Re-paste the CPU and GPU every two to three years to keep heat transfer efficient under sustained loads.

What throttles the i7-7700HQ first during a long render — 3.8 GHz turbo ceiling or thermals?

Thermals hit the limit before the 3.8 GHz turbo ceiling, so the chip drops clocks to stay within its temperature envelope.

How loud do the fans get when the 17.3" FHD panel and Quadro M620M run all day?

Fans spin up to an audible but not distracting level; the chassis stays warm on the bottom but remains comfortable at the keyboard deck.
