Mobile Workstation with Dual Storage

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need ISV-certified stability. It runs an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with a 3.80 GHz turbo frequency and 64GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400 MHz. The NVIDIA Quadro M620M GPU drives a 1920 x 1080 FHD IPS anti-glare display. Windows 10 Pro, 4G LTE WWAN, and a fingerprint reader complete the package.

Upgrade Path from Single-Drive Laptops

This configuration replaces machines limited to a single SSD or hard drive by pairing a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD with a 1TB hard disk drive. The jump is worth it when your workflow demands fast application loading on the NVMe volume and high-capacity local storage for project files on the HDD. Buyers who only need one fast volume and no bulk archive will not use the second drive.

Standard Notebook Serviceability

The P71 chassis allows typical ThinkPad field access to memory slots and storage bays after removing the base cover. Installation follows the usual screw-down procedure for DDR4 SO-DIMMs and 2.5 inch or M.2 drives. What usually goes wrong is forgetting to disable the internal battery in BIOS before opening the case, which can prevent the system from posting after reassembly.
