Mobile workstation for ISV workloads

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation certified for over 100 independent software vendor applications. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with four cores and a 3.80 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 8GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz and a 1TB solid-state drive. NVIDIA Quadro M620 graphics with 2GB VRAM drive the 1920 x 1080 IPS anti-glare display.

Built-in security and connectivity

A fingerprint reader and secure chip provide hardware-based authentication and data protection. The integrated 4G LTE WWAN module enables cellular connectivity without external dongles. AC WiFi supports wireless networking. The spill-resistant keyboard includes a TrackPoint pointing device for navigation without a mouse. These features are integrated into the chassis rather than supplied as separate accessories.

Verify memory and OS requirements

Confirm that 8GB of DDR4 memory meets the minimum specification for your target ISV applications before purchase. The installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit licence is tied to this hardware; ensure your software stack is compatible with this operating system. The 1TB SSD capacity is fixed; buyers who need more storage should consider external solutions. Cellular service requires an active data plan from a carrier.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz; the P71 platform supports additional SO-DIMM modules for expansion.

What limits sustained performance first — CPU or GPU thermals?

Under heavy load the Quadro M620M and i7-7700HQ share a common cooling solution, so GPU temperature typically reaches its throttle point before the CPU.

How loud are the fans and how hot does the chassis get during an all-day render?

Fans spin up to an audible but not intrusive level; the palm-rest area stays warm rather than hot, and the 17.3" chassis dissipates heat across a large surface.
