Mobile workstation for 3D and multitasking

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3" mobile workstation built for professionals who need ISV-certified stability across more than 100 applications. It combines an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with an NVIDIA Quadro M620M GPU to handle 3D rendering and heavy multitasking in a single chassis.

Sustained load on Quadro graphics

The Quadro M620M delivers workstation-class drivers optimised for long rendering sessions and CAD workloads rather than short gaming bursts. Dual storage with a 1TB SSD and a 1TB HDD keeps large project files accessible while the 8GB DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz supports consistent throughput during extended compute tasks.

Installation notes and common issues

The system arrives with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed so initial setup is limited to user configuration and driver updates. Buyers who need a modern operating system must plan a clean installation themselves. The 8GB memory capacity may restrict very large assemblies, and the 17.3" non-touch IPS panel offers no pen input for direct annotation.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i7-7700HQ get when the P71 runs rendering workloads all day?

The quad-core i7-7700HQ reaches 3.8 GHz turbo; sustained loads will raise fan speed and surface temperature, so keep vents clear on a hard surface.

Which memory modules must I already own to expand the 8 GB DDR4 fitted in this P71?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz; add matching DDR4 SO-DIMMs to populate the remaining slots.

Will the Quadro M620M 2 GB drive my older 1920 x 1080 external monitor without adapters?

The M620M supports 1920 x 1080 output; connect the monitor via the available video ports on the P71.
