Mobile workstation with 4TB storage

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need large local storage and ISV-certified stability. It combines an Intel Core i7-7820HQ processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 4TB SSD. The NVIDIA Quadro M620M graphics card with 2GB VRAM handles 3D rendering and CAD workflows. Windows 10 Pro and a fingerprint reader support secure enterprise access.

Sustained performance with quad-core CPU

The quad-core i7-7820HQ runs at a 2.90GHz base frequency and can reach 3.90GHz turbo frequency under load. With 8MB of L2 cache and 8MB of L3 cache, the processor maintains throughput during extended rendering or simulation tasks. The 2400MHz DDR4 memory feeds data to the CPU without bottlenecking the Quadro M620M GPU. ISV certification across over 100 applications ensures driver stability for long production sessions.

Thermal management for 17.3-inch chassis

The full-sized chassis provides internal volume for heat dissipation during continuous workloads. The anti-glare IPS display operates without adding thermal load from touchscreen components. Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 connectivity maintains network links without excessive power draw. The spill-resistant keyboard design protects internal components from liquid incidents that could cause short circuits and thermal events.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i7-7820HQ get when the ThinkPad P71 runs all day?

The quad-core i7-7820HQ operates at a 2.90 GHz base and can boost to 3.90 GHz, so sustained workloads will spin the internal fans and warm the chassis; the 17.3" body provides a larger thermal envelope than smaller models.

What memory modules must I already own to expand the 8 GB DDR4 fitted in this P71?

The system ships with 8 GB of DDR4 running at 2400 MHz; any additional sticks must be DDR4 SO-DIMMs at 2400 MHz to match the installed memory.

Will my older 1080p monitors work with the display outputs on this 17.3" FHD workstation?

The P71 includes standard video outputs that support 1920 x 1080 resolution, so existing Full HD monitors will connect and run at their native 1080p without adapters.
