Mobile workstation with Xeon processor

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3" mobile workstation built around an Intel Xeon E3-1535M v6 quad-core processor reaching 4.20 GHz turbo frequency. It runs Windows 10 Pro and targets professionals who need ISV-certified stability for 3D rendering and enhanced multitasking on the move. The 17.3" UHD IPS display shows 3840 x 2160 resolution without touch input.

Bundled security and connectivity features

A fingerprint reader and smart card reader provide hardware-based authentication for secure network access. The integrated 4G LTE WWAN module adds mobile broadband connectivity away from Wi-Fi. A DVD±RW drive remains in the optical bay and a Pantone color sensor supports colour-critical workflows. These features arrive pre-installed and ready to use.

8 GB DDR4 memory limits multitasking headroom

The system ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz while the storage capacity reaches 4 TB on a solid-state drive. Buyers who need more memory for large datasets or virtual machines must plan an upgrade because the installed amount is fixed in the supplied configuration. The NVIDIA Quadro P3000 6 GB GPU handles certified professional graphics workloads.

Questions about this item

Can the 8GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The system ships with 8GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz and has additional SODIMM slots for expansion up to the platform maximum.

What thermal limit appears first when the Xeon E3-1535M v6 runs at 4.20 GHz continuously?

The quad-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and throttle before the Quadro P3000 6GB GPU reaches its own limit.

How loud are the fans and how hot does the chassis get during all-day rendering on the 17.3" 4K panel?

Under sustained load the dual-fan cooling keeps the keyboard deck warm but not hot, while fan noise rises to a noticeable but steady hum.
