ThinkPad T450s 14 inch Ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T450s is a 14.0 inch ultrabook built around an Intel Core i5 5300U processor that reaches 2.3GHz. It ships with 8GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed. The matte non-touch display keeps reflections low for office work and travel.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-voltage processor and integrated graphics keep heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. Fan noise stays subdued when browsing, editing documents or streaming video. Power draw remains light, so the internal battery delivers long unplugged sessions without a bulky charger.

Build quality and connectivity

The black chassis uses Lenovo's traditional roll-cage reinforcement and passes military-spec durability tests. A built-in webcam supports video calls without extra peripherals. Wireless networking is included, and the port selection covers common business accessories such as external monitors, wired networks and USB devices. Buyers who want a touchscreen or larger screen should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512GB SSD in the T450s and which step is often missed?

The T450s uses an M.2 slot for the 512GB SSD; the step often missed is securing the drive with the tiny retention screw after insertion.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB RAM need later?

The 8GB RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded; later maintenance is limited to software optimisation or accepting the fixed capacity.

What limit appears first on the Core i5 5300U at 2.3GHz during sustained loads?

The dual-core 2.3GHz processor hits its thermal ceiling first, causing clock throttling before the 512GB SSD or 8GB RAM become bottlenecks.
