ThinkPad T460 with Core i7-6500U

This 14.0 inch FHD laptop runs on an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. It ships with 8GB DDR3 memory and a new 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate use.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The chassis is finished in black and features a non-touch 1920 x 1080 display with Intel HD Graphics 520. Two memory slots support up to 32 GB total capacity for future upgrades. Integrated Bluetooth and a webcam handle wireless peripherals and video calls without extra dongles.

Check your workflow before ordering

Buyers who need a dedicated graphics processor for rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The dual-core CPU and integrated graphics limit heavy multi-threaded workloads. Users requiring touchscreen interaction or a larger display will not find those features here.

Questions about this item

What PCIe lane width does the M.2 slot use for the 1TB NVMe drive?

The M.2 slot provides a PCIe 3.0 x4 link, so the 1TB NVMe drive can reach its full sequential-read potential of roughly 3 GB/s.

What are the SO-DIMM slot count and maximum supported memory for this ThinkPad T460?

Two DDR3 SO-DIMM slots are present, and the system board accepts up to 32 GB total.

After cloning the NVMe drive, why might the T460 fail to boot until the UEFI boot order is adjusted?

The firmware defaults to the original drive’s boot entry; you must move the new NVMe device to the first position in the UEFI boot menu before the OS will load.
