ThinkPad T460 for business mobility

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Home machine. It ships with an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz, 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB SATA SSD. The 1366 x 768 non-touch display keeps the chassis light for daily carry.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the i7-6500U can reach a 3.10 GHz turbo frequency while the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles visual output. The dual-core design and DDR3 memory bandwidth suit office applications, web browsing and video playback without thermal throttling in typical use. The 500GB SSD maintains consistent read speeds during extended file transfers.

32 GB memory ceiling

The system supports a maximum of 32 GB across two slots, so the installed 16 GB can be doubled if workloads demand more headroom. Buyers who need more storage than the single 500GB drive provides should look elsewhere. The 64-bit Windows 10 Home licence is included and ready to activate.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-6500U run during all-day workloads?

The dual-core i7-6500U has a base clock of 2.50 GHz and a turbo of 3.10 GHz; under sustained load the fan spins up but stays within typical office noise levels and the chassis remains warm rather than hot.

What RAM type and slots does the T460 use so I know if my existing sticks fit?

It takes DDR3 memory across two slots, with 16 GB installed and a maximum of 32 GB supported.

Can I keep using my older 2.5" SATA drives with the 500 GB SSD already fitted?

Yes, the 500 GB SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive, so any additional 2.5" SATA storage you own will be compatible.
