Ready-to-use business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460 ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed and a new 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD. An Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor runs at 2.60 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. Eight gigabytes of DDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics 520 handle everyday office workloads on the 14.0 inch HD display.

Memory headroom and storage speed

Two memory slots are fitted and the platform supports up to 32 GB of RAM for future upgrades. The NVMe PCIe drive delivers fast boot and application loading without occupying a 2.5 inch bay. Bluetooth and an integrated webcam cover peripheral and conferencing needs without extra dongles.

Quiet efficiency for mobile work

The low-power U-series chip and integrated graphics keep heat and fan noise modest during typical productivity tasks. The 1366 x 768 panel reduces GPU load compared with higher-resolution screens. No discrete graphics card means lower overall power draw for longer unplugged sessions.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i7-6600U hit its thermal ceiling before the turbo drops under long workloads?

The dual-core processor has a base frequency of 2.60 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz; sustained loads will be limited by the laptop's cooling capacity rather than a published thermal threshold.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel when the system runs all day?

The i7-6600U and Intel HD Graphics 520 share a compact thermal design; expect the fan to spin up noticeably during continuous high CPU usage and the keyboard deck to become warm.

Does the 500 GB M.2 drive need an NVMe-capable slot, and does this model provide one?

The specification lists the storage as 500GB SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe, confirming the slot supports NVMe signalling for the installed drive.
