14-inch Ultrabook with 20GB RAM

This Lenovo ThinkPad T460s is a 14-inch ultrabook built for mobile professionals. It runs Windows 10 Home on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with 3MB L3 cache. The system includes 20GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB M.2 SSD for responsive multitasking and fast boot times.

Suits travellers needing durability.

The carbon-fibre-reinforced lid and magnesium chassis meet MIL-STD 810G test standards for temperature, altitude, humidity and vibration. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory, so this unit suits office applications and video playback. Buyers who need dedicated graphics memory or a touchscreen should look at a different model.

256GB M.2 SSD and 20GB DDR4 decide fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the combined storage and memory configuration: a 256GB M.2 solid-state drive paired with 20GB of DDR4 RAM. This capacity supports heavy browser sessions and large document sets. If your workflow demands more local storage or memory than these figures provide, this laptop will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB M.2 SSD, and what step do people get wrong?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 SSD at an angle into the slot, then secure it with the single retention screw — the step most often missed is forgetting that screw, which leaves the drive loose.

What maintenance or replacement will the 20GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 20GB DDR4 is soldered and cannot be upgraded; no user maintenance is required, but if a memory fault ever appears the mainboard would need professional replacement.

What limit appears first on the Intel HD Graphics 520 under sustained load?

The shared system memory and thermal envelope of the ultrabook chassis cause the integrated GPU to throttle clock speeds before any other limit is reached.
