T460s 14" Ultrabook with 256GB SSD

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460s is a 14.0 inch ultrabook built on a carbon-fibre reinforced lid and magnesium chassis. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.4 GHz with 3 MB L3 cache. The system includes 12GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB M.2 SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses LED backlighting.

Suits mobile professionals needing durability

Workers who travel between offices gain MIL-STD 810G tested construction, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort outputs. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a discrete graphics card should look at other models. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory for video tasks.

12GB DDR4 soldered and slotted memory configuration

This unit ships with 12GB DDR4 already installed across the board and a single SO-DIMM slot. The fixed portion cannot be removed, so total capacity is limited to the soldered amount plus one module. Verify your workload fits within this ceiling before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 12GB DDR4 memory need an upgrade later?

The 12GB DDR4 is soldered and cannot be expanded, so any future need for more memory would require a different laptop.

What limits the Intel Core i5-6300U during sustained workloads?

The dual-core 2.4 GHz processor with 3 MB cache will hit thermal limits first, causing clock speeds to drop under continuous heavy load.

How loud and hot does the T460s get when running all day?

The carbon-fibre lid and magnesium chassis dissipate heat from the Intel HD Graphics 520 and 2.4 GHz CPU, keeping fan noise moderate during typical office use.
