Enterprise ultrabook for mobile professionals

The ThinkPad T460s combines a carbon-fibre-reinforced lid with a magnesium chassis that has passed MIL-STD 810G tests for temperature, altitude, humidity and vibration. It ships with Windows 10 Pro x64, an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor running at 2.4 GHz, 12 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB M.2 SSD. The 14.0 inch non-touch display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with LED backlighting and wide viewing angles.

Sustained workloads on integrated graphics

Intel HD Graphics 520 uses shared system memory rather than dedicated video RAM, so performance scales with the 12 GB DDR4 pool. The dual-core Skylake architecture with 3 MB L3 cache handles typical office suites, web-based tools and video playback without thermal throttling during extended sessions. Gigabit Ethernet and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 provide stable network throughput for cloud workloads and remote management.

Durable chassis with versatile connectivity

Three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort outputs support multi-monitor setups and peripheral chains without docks. An SD card reader and SIM card slot enable direct media import and mobile broadband options. The 720p webcam covers conferencing needs while the spill-resistant keyboard withstands daily travel wear. All connections are native — no adapters required for standard office peripherals.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i5-6300U get when the T460s runs all day?

The dual-core i5-6300U has a low base power draw, so fan noise stays modest and surface temperatures remain comfortable during typical office workloads.

What cables or peripherals must I already own to use the three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort outputs?

You will need your own USB 3.0 devices, an HDMI cable for the full-size HDMI output, and a Mini DisplayPort cable or adapter for the second video output.

Will the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drive my older 1920 x 1080 monitor over HDMI without extra adapters?

Yes, the HDMI port supports 1920 x 1080 resolution directly, so an older Full HD monitor connects with a standard HDMI cable.
