Lenovo ThinkPad T470 14 HD laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 is a 14-inch laptop with an HD 1366 x 768 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 2TB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. It ships without an operating system installed.

Upgrade from smaller SATA drives or hard disks

The 2TB SSD replaces lower-capacity solid-state drives or traditional mechanical hard disks, providing substantially more space for applications and local files. The jump is worthwhile when the existing drive is full or when faster boot and load times are needed over a spinning disk. The laptop supports up to 32 GB of total memory across two slots for future RAM expansion.

SATA interface and HD display limits

The 2.5-inch SATA SSD is limited by the SATA interface bandwidth, which caps sequential transfer speeds below those of modern PCIe-based storage. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 panel but is not suited for demanding 3D workloads or high-resolution external monitors. Buyers who need faster storage throughput or a higher-resolution screen should consider other platforms.
