14 inch FHD business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. It comes with 8GB DDR4 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate use.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core processor maintains a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and can reach 3.10 GHz under turbo. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles display output at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The 240GB SATA SSD provides consistent storage throughput for the operating system and applications during extended sessions.

Upgrade context and value

This unit replaces an older laptop with a slower processor, less memory or a mechanical hard drive. The jump is worth it when you need a 14 inch FHD screen, 8GB DDR4 and a fresh 240GB SSD in a durable chassis. Buyers who want more storage or higher memory capacity should note the two memory slots support up to 32 GB total.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i7-6500U get when the T470 runs all day?

The dual-core i7-6500U has a low base frequency of 2.50 GHz and a turbo of 3.10 GHz, so typical office workloads keep thermals modest and the single fan usually stays at low speed.

What must I already own to use the 240 GB SATA SSD and 8 GB DDR4 memory?

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed on the 240 GB 2.5" SATA SSD and 8 GB DDR4 in one of two slots, so only a power adapter is required to start working.

Will my older SATA drives and DDR4 modules work inside this T470?

The 2.5" SATA bay accepts legacy SATA drives, and the two DDR4 slots support up to 32 GB total, so existing compatible memory and storage can be reused.
