Product identity

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a 14.0 inch FHD IPS ultrabook powered by a dual-core Intel Core i7-7600U processor running at 2.80 GHz up to 3.90 GHz. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD running Windows 10 Pro. Designed for professionals who need a carbon-fibre chassis, integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 and a non-touch 1920 x 1080 display.

Thermals noise and power

The integrated graphics and low-voltage processor keep heat output modest during typical office workloads such as document editing, web browsing and video calls. Fan activity remains quiet under light use and becomes audible only during sustained multi-threaded tasks. Power draw stays within the limits of the included OEM AC adapter without requiring a higher-wattage supply.

Storage capacity

The single 1TB NVMe drive provides the total internal storage available; there is no secondary SATA bay or additional M.2 slot mentioned in the specifications. Buyers who want more storage or a separate data drive should look elsewhere. The 8 GB DDR4 memory is also the fixed amount supplied with this configuration.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 NVMe SSD in the ThinkPad T470s and which step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 2280 NVMe drive at an angle into the slot, secure it with the single screw, then reinstall the cover; the step often missed is reattaching the battery connector before closing the case.

What maintenance or replacement will the internal battery need later?

The internal 3-cell battery is not user-replaceable without removing the bottom cover; plan on a battery swap after 2–3 years when runtime drops below 80 % of the original capacity.

Which limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the i7-7600U?

The dual-core processor hits its thermal ceiling first, causing the CPU to reduce clocks from the 3.90 GHz turbo toward the 2.80 GHz base to stay within temperature limits.
