ThinkPad T470s 14" WQHD business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a 14.0-inch laptop with a 2560x1440 IPS matte display, Intel Core i7-7500U processor reaching 3.5GHz, 12GB DDR4 memory and a 128GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, fingerprint reader, smart card reader, Bluetooth 4.1 and Thunderbolt connectivity in a black chassis weighing 2.9 lbs.

Sustained workload behaviour

The i7-7500U dual-core CPU maintains up to 3.5GHz turbo under load while the SSD delivers around 200 MB/s transfers, roughly four times a mechanical drive's 50-120 MB/s. The 12GB DDR4 buffer keeps multiple business applications responsive and the matte WQHD panel reduces glare during long sessions.

Installation and common issues

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the laptop is ready to use after the initial out-of-box setup. The fingerprint reader and smart card reader require driver enrolment for corporate authentication. Some buyers find the 128GB SSD limiting for large local datasets and may need external storage or a larger internal drive.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i7-7500U get when the laptop runs all day?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.5GHz boost clocks while the thin chassis and SSD storage keep heat and fan noise modest during extended office workloads.

Which ports and peripherals must I already have to use this T470s?

It provides four USB ports, Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C, Bluetooth 4.1 and a 720p webcam, so only a power brick and any USB-C or USB-A accessories you prefer are required.

Will my older USB-A dock and external monitor work alongside the 2560x1440 panel?

Yes — the four USB-A ports and Thunderbolt 3 video output drive legacy docks and 1080p or 1440p displays while the built-in IPS screen runs at its native 2560x1440 resolution.
