Business ultraportable with LTE

The ThinkPad T470s pairs a 14" IPS WQHD matte display at 2560x1440 with an Intel Core i7-7600U reaching 3.9GHz, 20GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD. Windows 7 Professional, a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader and smart card reader complete a specification aimed at mobile professionals who need integrated connectivity.

Military-grade chassis and Thunderbolt 3

Twelve military-spec tests and over 200 quality checks underpin the silver magnesium-alloy frame that weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps data and dual-video bandwidth, while four USB ports, Bluetooth 4.1 and the built-in LTE-A WWAN card keep peripherals and networks connected without dongles.

Limits of the 7th-generation platform

The dual-core processor and integrated graphics suit office workloads and light content tasks, not sustained compute or modern gaming. Windows 7 Professional no longer receives security updates, so deployment requires an OS upgrade plan. Soldered memory caps expansion at 20GB, and the single SSD slot means storage growth requires drive replacement rather than addition.

Questions about this item

What Thunderbolt standard does the USB-C port support and what bandwidth does it cap at?

The USB-C port uses Intel Thunderbolt 3, capping data at 40 Gbps and providing twice the video bandwidth of other interfaces.

What are the physical dimensions and weight range for this 14" laptop?

The 14.0" chassis weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs and fits standard 14-inch sleeves and docking stations.

How is the 20GB DDR4 memory configured and which slot is user-accessible?

The 20GB DDR4 is split between soldered and one SO-DIMM slot; the common mistake is trying to replace the soldered portion instead of upgrading the single removable module.
