Business ultraportable with LTE

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a new 14 inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro with built in LTE connectivity. An Intel Core i5-6300U processor with 20GB of DDR4 memory and a 128GB SSD handles office workloads and multitasking. The 1920 x 1080 IPS matte display, fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard support mobile professionals who need a lightweight, durable device for secure remote work.

Upgrade from mechanical storage

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the 128GB SSD cuts boot time by nearly three times and opens files up to 30 percent faster. Sequential transfers reach around 200 MB per second versus 50 to 120 MB per second on mechanical drives. The jump is worth it when daily tasks involve frequent application launches, large document handling or field work where shock resistance matters more than maximum capacity.

Single USB-C Thunderbolt port

One USB-C port carries Thunderbolt 3 at up to 40 Gbps for data and dual video streams. Four total USB ports include legacy Type-A connectors, but only the USB-C link supports the highest bandwidth peripherals or docks. Bluetooth 4.1 handles basic accessories, yet the single high speed lane limits simultaneous external GPU, storage and dual 4K display configurations that demand more lanes than the interface provides.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0" chassis accept a standard 2.5" drive or only the 128GB SSD?

The specification lists only a 128GB SSD and no HDD, so the laptop uses solid-state storage without a 2.5" bay.

How is the LTE-A WWAN card installed, and what step is often missed?

The WWAN card fits into the internal M.2 slot; the step people forget is inserting an active nano-SIM into the external tray before booting.

When will the 20GB DDR4 memory need replacement?

The 20GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-upgradeable, so it lasts the lifetime of the system unless a fault develops.
