ThinkPad T480 for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a 14.0-inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB DDR4 memory and a new 128GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed so you can load your preferred platform.

Upgrade path from smaller storage or HDD

Moving from a mechanical drive or a smaller solid-state drive to the new 128GB SSD cuts boot and load times while keeping the proven T480 chassis. The jump is worth it when you need faster application starts and silent operation without changing form factor. Memory can grow to 32 GB across two slots if workloads demand more headroom.

Build fit with integrated graphics and no OS

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visuals and external displays through the built-in outputs. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch screen keeps power draw modest for mobile use. You supply the operating system and any additional storage the 2.5-inch bay accepts.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5-inch SATA drive bay accept a 128GB SSD as a direct replacement?

Yes, the laptop ships with a 128GB SSD in the 2.5-inch SATA bay, so any standard 2.5-inch SATA SSD fits without adapters.

Which screws and panels must be removed to reach the two DDR4 memory slots for an upgrade?

Remove the bottom case screws, lift the base cover, and the two DDR4 slots are immediately accessible above the battery.

When will the 8GB DDR4 memory need replacement if I expand to the 32GB maximum later?

The original 8GB modules only need replacing when you install larger DDR4 sticks to reach the 32GB limit; they have no fixed lifespan otherwise.
