ThinkPad T480s 14-inch business laptop

This 14-inch ThinkPad T480s is a new mainstream laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with a maximum turbo of 4.0 GHz. It ships with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and includes 24 GB of DDR4 memory alongside a 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 1920 x 1080 IPS matte display is non-touch and measures 14.0 inches diagonally.

Fingerprint reader, Thunderbolt 3 and UltraNav

A match-on-chip fingerprint reader with anti-spoofing technology secures log-in credentials and helps safeguard data. ThinkShutter provides a physical webcam cover that can be opened or closed. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps of data bandwidth and supports video output while supplying power. The UltraNav touchpad and backlit keyboard complete the input experience.

Suited for legacy Windows 7 workflows

This configuration suits organisations that still require Windows 7 Professional for certified applications and need a durable chassis tested against 21 MIL-SPEC standards. Buyers who need a supported operating system with current security updates should look elsewhere. The 24 GB memory and 2 TB NVMe storage are fixed, so users requiring post-purchase upgrades cannot expand either component.

Questions about this item

Can the 24 GB DDR4 memory be expanded later or is it soldered?

The 24 GB DDR4 is fixed; no user-accessible memory slots exist on this chassis.

What limits the Core i7-8550U during long workloads?

Thermal headroom in the 14.0" ultra-slim body causes the processor to throttle below its 4.00 GHz maximum turbo under sustained load.

How loud does the cooling fan get when the laptop runs all day?

Fan noise rises to an audible but office-tolerable level once the CPU holds high clocks for extended periods.
