Business laptop with quad-core processor

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.0 GHz. It ships with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive. The 14.0-inch IPS display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution on a matte panel. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit comes pre-installed.

MIL-SPEC tested chassis with Thunderbolt 3

The chassis has passed 21 MIL-SPEC tests for reliability in harsh environments. A match-on-chip fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover provide hardware-level security. Intel Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth for data and video while supplying power. Connectivity includes four USB ports and Bluetooth 4.1. The UltraNav touchpad and backlit keyboard complete the input suite.

Verify OS and memory needs before purchase

This unit ships with Windows 7 Professional, an operating system that no longer receives mainstream security updates. Buyers who require a supported OS should plan for an upgrade. The 24 GB DDR4 configuration is fixed; there are no user-accessible slots for further expansion. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle everyday workloads but are not suited to intensive 3D or compute tasks. Ensure the single 2 TB NVMe drive meets your storage requirements.

What physical space is required for the 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD inside this laptop?

The 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD uses an internal M.2 slot; no 2.5-inch drive bay is present because the specifications list no HDD.

How is Windows 7 Professional installed on this T480s, and what step is often missed?
