Mobile professionals

This unit suits travelling professionals who need a durable MIL-SPEC tested chassis with 4G LTE WWAN connectivity for working away from Wi-Fi. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C supports high-speed docks and external displays. Buyers who require a larger screen, discrete graphics, touchscreen input or greater internal storage should look at other configurations.

180 GB SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 180 GB solid-state drive. It determines how many applications and local files the system can hold before external or cloud storage becomes necessary. Verify that this capacity matches your workload before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How hot or loud does the 8250U get when the T480s runs all day?

The 8250U reaches up to 3.4 GHz under load; the MIL-SPEC tested chassis manages heat with a single fan that stays quiet during typical office work and spins faster only during sustained heavy tasks.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port on this T480s?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable and a Thunderbolt 3-capable dock, monitor or storage device; the USB-C port delivers up to 40 Gbps and can supply power to connected peripherals.

Will my older USB-A peripherals work with the four USB ports on this T480s?

Yes, the four USB ports are standard USB-A connectors compatible with existing mice, keyboards, flash drives and other USB-A devices without adapters.
