Business laptop with 24 GB memory

The ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business notebook powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with up to 4.00 GHz turbo. It ships with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and 24 GB of DDR4 memory for multitasking across office workloads.

Security and connectivity extras

A match-on-chip fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover provide hardware-level login protection and privacy. Thunderbolt over USB-C delivers 40 Gbps data and video bandwidth, while Bluetooth 4.1 handles peripheral links. The 4-in-1 card reader adds convenient media access.

128 GB SSD capacity

The 128 GB solid-state drive holds the operating system and core applications, but leaves limited room for large local datasets. Buyers who need more storage should consider external or cloud solutions.

Questions about this item

How many DDR4 memory slots are free for future upgrades?

The 24 GB of DDR4 memory fills both slots, so adding more RAM requires replacing the existing modules.

What thermal limit does the i7-8550U hit first during long workloads?

The processor drops from its 4.0 GHz boost toward the 1.80 GHz base once the cooling system reaches its sustained capacity.

How loud does the fan get when the laptop runs all day?

Under continuous load the fan spins up to an audible but office-tolerable level while the chassis stays warm to the touch.
