Ready for Business Travel

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 7 Professional machine with strong multi-tasking memory. It combines an Intel Core i5-8250U processor, 24 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256 GB NVMe SSD in a chassis weighing under 2.9 lbs.

Simple Peripheral Expansion

Installing software or adding peripherals is straightforward thanks to four USB ports, Bluetooth 4.1 and a Thunderbolt connection that supports power delivery. The fingerprint reader and webcam cover work immediately without extra drivers, while the UltraNav touchpad offers familiar pointing control.

Thunderbolt Bandwidth Ceiling

The Thunderbolt interface provides up to 40 Gbps of throughput, which limits the speed of any external GPU, dock or storage array attached through that port. Integrated UHD 620 graphics restrict 3D workloads, and the 1920 x 1080 panel caps external display resolution at 1080p unless a higher-resolution monitor is driven through the same link.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Intel Core i5-8250U is running at its 3.40 GHz turbo speed after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 7 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency climb toward 3.40 GHz under load.

Which accessories are included in the box versus what I must purchase separately for this ThinkPad T480s?

The laptop ships with the 24 GB DDR4 memory and 256 GB NVMe SSD already installed; only the power adapter and documentation are bundled — no external dock or extra cables are included.

Should I choose the 24 GB RAM configuration or the 16 GB DDR4 version mentioned in the highlights for this T480s?

Select the 24 GB configuration listed in the specifications; the 16 GB figure appears only in the manufacturer highlights and does not reflect the actual memory installed.
