Business-ready laptop for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a new 14-inch Windows 10 Pro laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. It targets users who need a lightweight, durable machine for office productivity and secure remote access.

Integration into a mobile workflow

The 14.0-inch IPS FHD matte display reduces glare in bright environments, while the ThinkPad UltraNav touchpad and backlit keyboard support comfortable input during travel. Thunderbolt and USB ports provide flexible peripheral connectivity without needing a separate dock.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core processor reaches 3.40 GHz turbo speeds for demanding tasks, and the 21 MIL-SPEC tests confirm structural resilience under continuous use. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle everyday visual workloads without discrete GPU heat or power draw.

Questions about this item

How does the 1.60 GHz i5-8250U behave when it runs at 3.4 GHz for long periods?

The processor can reach 3.4 GHz on Turbo Boost, but sustained all-core speeds drop lower to stay within the cooling limits of the thin chassis.

What fan noise and surface heat should I expect after hours of typical office work?

The dual-fan system keeps the keyboard deck warm but not hot; fan noise stays at a low hum during documents and web browsing.

Which peripherals or docks must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable and a compatible dock, monitor or storage device with a USB-C connector are required to use the 40 Gbps link.
