Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14 inch business laptop with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 7 Professional and a matte 1920 x 1080 IPS display. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle office workloads and video playback.

Suits travellers needing legacy OS and WWAN

This unit fits buyers who require a factory Windows 7 Pro installation and built-in 4G LTE WWAN for cellular connectivity on the move. The fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover add physical security. It is not for users who need a modern supported operating system, a touchscreen, or discrete graphics for heavy 3D work.

Deciding spec: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

The operating system is the single specification that determines suitability. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit reaches end of support, so only organisations with approved legacy applications or extended security updates should deploy this laptop. All other hardware — 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, Thunderbolt 3 — serves that OS constraint.
