Business ultraportable with LTE

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0" business laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It combines an Intel Core i7-8550U processor with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 matte IPS panel, while a 4G LTE WWAN module keeps the system connected away from Wi-Fi.

Sustained productivity focus

The 8550U operates at a 1.80 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.00 GHz under load, supported by the chassis thermal design that passes 21 MIL-SPEC tests. Thunderbolt 3 at 40 Gbps provides high-bandwidth I/O for docks or external storage without throttling the CPU during long sessions. The fingerprint reader and webcam cover add security without interrupting workflow.

24 GB DDR4 decides fit

The soldered-plus-slot memory configuration totals 24 GB, which determines whether the laptop can hold your working set without paging. Buyers who need more memory than this single fixed capacity provides should consider other models. The 1 TB SSD and 4.1 Bluetooth complement the memory but cannot replace it.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-8550U get when the ThinkPad T480s runs all day?

The quad-core i7-8550U operates at 1.80 GHz base and up to 4.00 GHz boost; the MIL-SPEC tested chassis manages sustained workloads within typical business-class thermal and acoustic limits.

What peripherals or cables must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port on this T480s?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable or Thunderbolt 3 dock is required; the USB-C connector supplies up to 40 Gbps data, dual 4K video bandwidth and power delivery through that single port.

Will my older USB-A drives and Bluetooth 4.1 headset work with this T480s?

Four USB-A ports accept legacy drives directly, and Bluetooth 4.1 pairs with existing headsets, keyboards and mice without adapters.
