Business laptop with Windows 7 Pro

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch laptop built for professionals who need a mature operating system. It ships with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. The Intel Core i5-8250U processor runs at a base frequency of 1.60 GHz and can reach 3.40 GHz.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The ultrabook chassis weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs and uses integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics for typical office workloads. A matte IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution reduces glare during long sessions. Bluetooth 4.1 handles wireless peripherals without a dongle.

Behaviour under sustained load

The platform has passed 21 MIL-SPEC tests for reliability in harsh environments. Thunderbolt support over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth for external storage or docks. A match-on-chip fingerprint reader and a physical webcam shutter protect data during continuous operation.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD in the T480s and what step is often missed?

The SSD slots into the internal M.2 bay; the step often missed is removing the bottom cover screws before lifting the panel.

What maintenance will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The memory is soldered and not user-replaceable, so no module swap is possible; only keep vents clear of dust.

At what point does the i5-8250U hit its limit under sustained load?

The processor throttles when it reaches its thermal ceiling, capping speeds below the 3.4 GHz maximum turbo.
