Business laptop with Windows 7 Pro

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It uses an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with a base clock of 1.60 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SSD for storage. A 14.0-inch IPS FHD matte display provides a 1920 x 1080 resolution without touchscreen input.

Suited for legacy OS environments

This laptop fits organisations that must deploy or maintain Windows 7 Professional for application compatibility. The integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics and non-touch matte panel serve standard office productivity and video conferencing. Buyers who need a newer supported operating system, a touchscreen display or discrete graphics hardware should consider other options.

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C port

The single specification that most affects connectivity is the inclusion of Thunderbolt 3 technology on a USB-C connector. It delivers data transfer rates up to 40 Gbps and supports video output and power delivery through the same port. This capability determines whether the machine can drive high-speed docks, external GPUs or fast storage enclosures without adapters.

Questions about this item

How long does the 500GB SSD last before it needs replacing?

The 500GB SSD has no moving parts and is rated for typical business workloads; replacement is only needed if capacity runs out or a hardware fault occurs.

What stops the i5-8250U from holding its 3.4GHz boost during long renders?

The 8250U reduces speed when its thermal limit is reached; the slim 14" chassis and shared cooling with Intel UHD 620 graphics set that ceiling.

How loud and hot does the T480s get when the 16GB DDR4 and WWAN modem run all day?

Fan noise stays at office-background level; the magnesium deck warms to hand-warm but not hot, and the 4.1 Bluetooth and WWAN add negligible extra heat.
