ThinkPad T480s business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8250U processor running at 1.60 GHz with a maximum turbo of 3.40 GHz. It comes with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB SATA M.2 SSD. The 14.0 inch IPS display has a 1920 x 1080 matte finish. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and includes Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics. A fingerprint reader and 4G LTE WWAN are built in. The chassis weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs.

Suits mobile professionals needing WWAN

This configuration suits professionals who need integrated 4G LTE connectivity for working away from Wi-Fi. The 24 GB memory and 2 TB SSD support heavy multitasking and large local datasets. Buyers who need a touchscreen should look elsewhere because the display is non-touch. Users requiring discrete graphics for 3D rendering or gaming will not find it here. The laptop uses Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics only.

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C decides

The single specification that decides fit is the inclusion of Intel Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C at 40 Gbps. This provides four times the data bandwidth of other ports and supports power delivery and dual 4K video. If your workflow depends on Thunderbolt 3 docks, external GPUs or high-speed storage, this laptop meets the requirement. If you do not need Thunderbolt 3, a model without it may cost less.
