Business ultraportable with Thunderbolt 3

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch mainstream laptop built for professionals who need a light, durable machine. It ships new with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and an Intel Core i5-8250U processor that reaches 3.4 GHz. The 14.0-inch IPS panel delivers a 1920 x 1080 matte finish, and the chassis weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs.

Thunderbolt 3 port and biometric login

A single Thunderbolt 3 connection supplies up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth, video output and power through one USB-C socket. The match-on-chip fingerprint reader authenticates credentials locally, while the integrated ThinkShutter lets you physically cover the webcam. Bluetooth 4.1 handles peripheral links without a dongle.

8 GB DDR4 and 256 GB NVMe for daily workloads

The 8 GB of DDR4 memory and 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD keep office applications, web sessions and light multitasking responsive. Heavier tasks such as large media edits or virtual-machine clusters will exhaust the soldered memory headroom and the single-drive capacity, so buyers who need more RAM or storage should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How often will the 256GB NVMe SSD or 8GB DDR4 memory need replacement?

The 256GB NVMe SSD and 8GB DDR4 are soldered or internal components with no user-replaceable schedule; they typically last the laptop's usable life unless a fault occurs.

Which limit appears first during sustained workloads on the i5-8250U?

The i5-8250U processor hits its thermal ceiling under prolonged heavy loads, reducing clock speeds to stay within safe temperatures.

How loud and hot does the 14" ThinkPad get when running all day?

The 14" chassis with UltraNav stays quiet during typical office tasks; fan noise increases only under sustained heavy CPU load, while surface temperatures remain comfortable for lap use.
