Ready-to-Work Business Laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch mainstream notebook that ships new with Windows 7 Professional. It pairs an Intel Core i5-8250U processor running at 1.60 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB SATA solid-state drive.

Office Users and Mobile Professionals

This configuration suits buyers who need a lightweight chassis, a matte IPS display at 1920 x 1080 resolution and a built-in fingerprint reader for quick sign-in. It does not serve buyers who want a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a newer Windows release.

2 TB SATA Storage Capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 2 TB SATA SSD, which provides a large volume for local files and applications without relying on cloud storage or external drives.

Questions about this item

How is the 2 TB SATA M.2 drive installed and which step is often missed?

The 2 TB SATA M.2 drive fits into the single M.2 slot on the motherboard; the step often missed is enabling the SATA controller in BIOS so the drive appears to Windows 7 Pro.

What maintenance will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 8 GB DDR4 is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded; the only memory-related maintenance is keeping the OS and drivers current to avoid unnecessary paging.

At what point does the i5-8250U hit its thermal limit under sustained use?

Under sustained load the i5-8250U will reach its thermal ceiling and reduce clocks from the 3.4 GHz turbo toward the 1.6 GHz base to stay within the cooling capacity.
