Business-ready laptop with Intel Core i7

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a mainstream laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with up to 4.0 GHz turbo. It includes 12 GB of DDR4 memory, a 128 GB SSD and a 14.0 inch IPS FHD matte display at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The unit ships new with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics.

Professionals needing legacy OS and portability

This laptop suits buyers who require Windows 7 Professional for application compatibility and a lightweight chassis under 2.9 lbs for travel. The fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover support physical security needs. Buyers who want more storage capacity, a touchscreen interface or a newer operating system should look at something else.

Straightforward deployment with legacy OS caveats

The system arrives ready to use with the operating system pre-installed and drivers configured for the included hardware. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C and Bluetooth 4.1 provide modern connectivity options. The main installation risk is Windows 7 Professional reaching end-of-support status, which may complicate future security updates and driver availability for newer peripherals.

Questions about this item

Does the ThinkPad T480s need a separate power adapter, or is the 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 port enough to charge it?

The laptop includes its own power supply; the Thunderbolt 3 port can deliver power to attached devices but is not the primary charging input.

Will my older USB 3.0 dock work with the four USB ports and the Thunderbolt 3 connector on this T480s?

Yes — the four USB ports and the Thunderbolt 3 port are backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 peripherals.

How can I confirm the Intel UHD 620 graphics are driving the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel at the correct resolution?

Open Display Settings in Windows 7 Pro; the recommended resolution will show 1920 x 1080 when the panel is running natively.
