Business ultraportable

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch laptop built for professionals who need a durable, secure machine that travels light. An Intel Core i7-8550U processor with a 4.0 GHz maximum turbo frequency handles everyday workloads. The 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD provides ample fast storage for large project files.

Thermals and power

MIL-SPEC testing across 21 methods confirms the chassis withstands harsh environments while maintaining stable operation. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics keep power draw modest during typical office tasks. The matte 1920 x 1080 IPS display reduces glare without increasing system load.

Upgrade context

This unit suits buyers moving from older ultraportables with smaller SSDs or no WWAN, delivering 2 TB of NVMe storage and 4G LTE connectivity in one package. It is not for users who require discrete graphics performance, touchscreen input, or more than 8 GB of DDR4 memory.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD in the ThinkPad T480s and what step is often missed?

The SSD is already installed; no user installation is required. If adding a second drive, remove the bottom cover screws, disconnect the battery connector, then insert the M.2 drive at the correct angle and secure it.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 8GB DDR4 memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded or replaced; no user maintenance is possible.

What limit appears first on the i7-8550U under sustained load?

The i7-8550U reaches its 4.0 GHz turbo ceiling and thermal limits first, causing clock speeds to throttle during extended heavy workloads.
